Syntax Of Devotion formed in the late 90's with band members Sandor Gavin, Rayne, and Martyr. The trio frequented the alternative scene in Detroit, playing punk/mod venues and events. The group wrote songs of heartache and angst with a sound inspired by eighties dark/new wave and early industrial. After 2002, syntax separated, later to merge into a Detroit based synthpop/industrial band Electrophile. A few of their songs were re-worked and released under the new project including one of electrophile's popular songs 'Everyday'. Sandor Gavin, front man to both projects, later moved on to a work with other bands and a self titled solo electro-pop project. Gavin remastered all of the syntax material, which was previously never released to the public. He also just released his first solo album 'Partial To Blue' in september 2010, with another on the way.
