'Accept No Substitutes' was the second album from the Portland funk outfit Pleasure. It contained their first R&B hit in the laid-back 'Ghettos Of The Mind', plus the storming club floor-filler 'Let's Dance', collaboration with label mates Side Effect. The rest of the album is the band at their height and features out-and-out funk as well as the jazz dance classic 2 For 1. Pleasure were signed to Fantasy through jazz trombonist Wayne Henderson who produced their early records, including this one. An eight-piece, their mix of soul, funk and jazz was hoped to be Fantasy's answer to the mega-selling Earth, Wind & Fire and Kool & The Gang. Although they didn't achieve that level of popularity, the quality of their music was as high.
