The latest in our series of Motown collections is a 2CD set comprising the complete recordings of Eddie Holland, which joins our recent Satintones, Contours, Patrice Holloway and Marv Johnson compilations. As a member of the celebrated Holland-Dozier-Holland team, Eddie Holland is best-known as one of the top songwriters of the 1960s. No mean vocalist either, he was a recording artist in his own right, before withdrawing from the spotlight to concentrate on penning hits for the Supremes, Four Tops and many of the other leading lights of Motown. Disc One comprises the A and B-sides of each of the 15 singles he released on the Mercury, Kudo, Tamla, United Artists and Motown labels between 1958 and 1964. Of the 25 tracks on Disc Two, 18 are previously unissued masters from the Motown vaults, among them titles written by Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson, Norman Whitfield and, of course, Holland-Dozier-Holland. Compiled and annotated by noted Motown archivist Keith Hughes, and fully authorised by Motown HQ in the USA, the set comes with an impressive booklet featuring an exclusive interview with Eddie Holland and a plethora of rare illustrations.
