Brazilian import. Vinyl reissue of the 1971 album by Erasmo Carlos, acknowledged by many as the father of Brazilian pop. Erasmo Carlos, born Erasmo Esteves near Rio de Janeiro in 1941, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter, most closely associated with his friend and longtime collaborator Roberto Carlos (no relation). Together, they have created many chart hits including 'Proibido Fumar'. Heavily involved with the countries '60s Jovem Guarda (Young Guard) scene, his s/t debut (Philips, 1971) was inspired by the hippie counter culture as well as US soul music. The opening cut 'Noite Na Cama', written by Caetano Veloso, was a controversial ode to marijuana.
