Compiled with and completely endorsed by Billy Gibbons! The Moving Sidewalks was Billy Gibbons' pre-ZZ Top band which originally started in the mid-'60s under the name the Coachmen and featured Don Summers on bass, Dan Mitchell on drums and Tom Moore on keyboards. Inspired by the likes of The Rolling Stones, Roky Erickson and The 13th Floor Elevators, the band eventually changed their name to the Moving Sidewalks, and emerged from R&B into psychedelia and a more experimental sound. Non-LP single, "99th Floor" and the Wand Records hit "Need Me" led to opening spots on tours with the likes of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors. The band came to a screaching hault shortly after, however, when Tom Moore and Don Summers were drafted. Gibbons, of course, would go on to form the legendary ZZ Top and the rest is history. RockBeat's 2CD-set, 'The Complete Collection', contains The Moving Sidelwalks' original 1968 album Flash in its entirety plus a second disc featuring alternate tracks and previously unreleased songs.
