Recorded by Hendrix in 1966, when he was still making a living as an in-demand sideman, 'Suey' originally was the flip side of 'As The Clouds Drift By', a single by the voluptuous B-movie actress Jayne Mansfield. The single was licensed to several European labels just weeks after Mansfield died in an automobile accident on June 29, 1967. On Side 2 we find a surprisingly strong '66 recording featuring vocalist Ricky Mason, backed by Hendrix doing another ace session job.
