Popis - VOLUME 3: FRANKLIN:
The 1861 Project – Volume 3: Franklin Commemorates Civil War's 'Five Bloodiest Hours' Third and Final Edition of Acclaimed Series Features Bobby Bare, Jason Ringenberg, Kim Richey, Ron Block, Sierra Hull, Kenny & Amanda Smith and a Host of Others Nashville – Creative artists' collective Cohesion Arts is proud to announce the upcoming release of The 1861 Project, Volume 3: Franklin, the third and final edition of The 1861 Project – the series of releases universally acclaimed for its groundbreaking blend of soul-stirring music and historical perspective. Scheduled for release on May 20, 2014, in anticipation of the Sesquicentenial of the Battle of Franklin in November of 2014, The 1861 Project, Volume 3: Franklin commemorates one of the Civil War's final, and most brutal, conflicts. Known as 'the five bloodiest hours of the American Civil War,' the Battle of Franklin was the last great fight in the western theater and one of the final blows to the Confederate army. Often referred to as 'The Gettysburg of the West,' the Battle of Franklin effectively signalled the defeat of the Confederate forces in the region. Volume 3: Franklin is the third and final installment of The 1861 Project. Released in 2011, Volume 1: From Farmers To Foot Soldiers told of the struggles and emotional upheaval endured by everyday people during the war, while the songs on 2012's Volume 2: From The Famine To The Front chronicled the Irish immigrant experience in the war. Both Volumes garnered praise from a wide-ranging fan base including Civil War buffs, academics and lovers of great songwriting and world-class musicianship. All three volumes were recorded by project producer Thomm Jutz at his studio outside of Nashville, Tennessee. With Franklin just 30 mile south of Nashville, Jutz and his 1861 Project team found friends, fans, and supporters for The 1861 Project among the town's thriving community of Civil War enthusiasts and scholars. The extraordinary battlefield preservation and reclamation efforts in Franklin have provided both education and inspiration to the 1861 Project songwriters, and the historic battle unleashed a treasure trove of stories and song ideas. For Volume 3: Franklin, producer Jutz once again called on the core group of A-team musicians (now known as 'The 1861 All Stars') who brought so much to The 1861 Project's first two Volumes. Delbert McClinton drummer Lynn Williams, multi-instrumentalist Justin Moses and bassist Mark Fain (both former members of Ricky Skaggs' Kentucky Thunder), are on hand along with bluegrass prodigy Sierra Hull and seasoned musical veterans including West Coast-country stalwart Herb Pederson, Country Music Hall of Fame member Bobby Bare, cowpunk pioneer Jason Ringenberg, hit songwriter Kim Richey, and Ron Block of Alison Krauss and Union Station. The music is acoustic, stripped-down to the essentials to allow the full emotional power of these new, original songs to shine brilliantly through. 'The Battle of Franklin is one of the most unheralded, yet most important battles of the Civil War,' Jutz says. 'The stories and the spirits of the people who fought and lived through that terrible fight are still tangible today on the streets of this beautiful Tennessee town. It was easy to find songs in those stories, and it's a great honor to pay tribute to the people who fought 150 years ago, and to the community of people who are keeping the history of the Battle of Franklin alive.'
