LP on 180-gram vinyl. The percussion driven sounds of the '60s tv-series 'Daktari', which was set in an African wild life reserve. On these '67 recordings, featuring drummer Shelly Manne and a couple of highly respected colleagues, the atmosphere is dominated by heavy use of the marimba and other percussion instruments. According to the liner notes, Manne and fellow percussionists play ankle and wrist jingles, Thai mouth organs, angklungs, ocarinas, vibraphones, tympani and -as said- different kinds of marimbas.
