Today the remastered mono recording sounds as fresh as it did 48 years ago. These recordings really do stand the test of time: standards such as Smokestack Lightning, Don't Ask Me What I Say, Sack O'Woe and I've Got My Mojo Working blend seamlessly with original compositions from the band such as What You Gonna Do?, I'm Your Kingpin and Mr Anello. As well as R&B, the band's jazz influences are obviously heard too, as well as a nod to James Brown on the final track.
