Popis - The Way:
In The Nick of Time, the Parents’ Choice® Award winning duo of Nick Deysher and Tracey Freitag, triumphantly returns to the forefront of the national family music scene with the October 21 release of their fourth studio CD, Noted for eclectic recordings that celebrate the songs he loved growing up, Nick Deysher and In The Nick of Time draw on a lush expanse of influences. Fun O’Clock is not only a trip through the decades of more than 100 years of popular music but also a global peregrination that includes ‘80s hip-hop, ska/reggae, Celtic, and indie rock, alongside classic rock and roll, jazz, and country, with even a tip of the hat to the Renaissance. Fun O’Clock’s title track, inspired by Pharell’s “Happy,” is an upbeat opener that segues effortlessly to the Motown groove of “Doin’ A Little Dance.” From there, the music keeps up a a veritable tsunami of creativity, with the ska/reggae rhythms of “You’ve Only Got One Body” followed by a modern indie rock number ? la Modest Mouse, The Killers, and Franz Ferdinand titled “Road Trip” and the “Stairway to Heaven” inspired “Hey Nonny No,” a Renaissance madrigal that builds to a rocking finish line. There’s “’Til A Pig Does A Jig,” a Celtic-style number old-time country ballad about footwear (“My Favorite Sneakers”), a tribute to the Beastie Boys featuring special guest Mista Cookie Jar (“Mama Don’t Allow”), and even a piano bar style torch song (“Flutter By Butterfly”). “Wrong Way Joe” recalls iconic ‘50s and ‘60s heroes Bo Diddley, the Yardbirds, and the Stones. “Best Friends” pays homage to R.E.M. (Nick Deysher’s favorite band when he was growing up), while “Don’t Say Can’t” projects a Queen sound. “Namaste” features a world music vibe and was composed to be performed in the yoga tent at the White House Easter Egg Roll, at the request of Nick Deysher’s best friend from childhood, Chris Lucas. Nick and Chris have played music together for decades, and, appropriately, teamed up to write the song “Best Friends” especially for Fun O’Clock. The album glides to a sweet landing with “Down on Lemongrass Lane,” In The Nick of Time’s take on a 1920s pop tune, inspired by a 1907 phonograph that Nick Deysher inherited last year.
