Reissue of a forgotten UK folkrock gem. No Right Turn recorded
their s/t album in 1982-'83 in the studio of Fairport
Convention's Dave Pegg, with engineer Mark Powell capturing the
well-rehearsed band's energy and freshness in a minimum of
takes and adding some decidedly un-folk synthesizer in spots.
Unfortunately this Derbyshire outfit appeared on the scene too
late to enjoy the folkrock boom of the '70s, which probably is
the main reason why the original release didn't make many waves
outside of (what was left of) the folk scene. 'No Right Turn,
nevertheles is a gorgeous collection of songs, with tasteful arrangements and fine female vocals. Fans of a.o. Vashti Bunyan
and Linda Perhacs will find much to love here. This CD version includes the bonus track 'A Poke In The Eye With A Sharp Stick'.
