Popis - WEIN, WEIB UND GESANG:
The UAJO’s new program is...a comparison of the song material of Vienna and Upper Austria. Starting with Friedrich Gulda’s “Golowin” songs which had their premier during the Gmundner Festwochen (festival week) 2005 with the orchestra’s own arrangements, the musicians intend to capture the typical feel of Vienna’s music as well as that of Upper Austria and transform it in a jazz context. The variety of musical resources the arrangers use and the selected text which form the basis of the compositions and their treatment promise to provide an interesting program. Entertaining elements arise from the material and are by no means a contradiction to the musical tradition of the orchestra. 15 years ago…the “Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra” was founded by upper Austrian musicians and musicians with a special closeness to upper Austria. After the successful start with the 2nd place prize in the “Billa Big-Band Contest” in 1993 the orchestra engaged the artistic work of outstanding personalities of the international jazz scene. They played the music of and with Kenny Wheeler, Jack Walrath, Johnny Griffin, Slide Hampton, Hugh Fraser, Friedrich Gulda, Karl Ratzer and Michael Gibbs. At the same time the orchestra developed it’s own musical identity. Collectively the programs were conceived, compositions prepared and rehearsed concerts presented and recordings published. The special thing about this orchestra is it’s use of the compositional and arranging potential of about 10 of the active instrumentalists. The creative power concentrates itself in a collective team that mixes different compositional concepts to produce surprises. Tini Kainrath, whose roots are in Vienna, is responsible for carrying out the vocal part authentically. In addition to her masterful interpretation of the traditional Vienna song repertoir as well as the Viennese folk art of “dudeling” she has a many-facetted orientation. She is known from Soul, Blues, Jazz, Pop, and Rock projects and she has worked with The Rounder Girls, Joe Zawinul, Gloria Gaynor, Karl Hodina, Wolfgang Ambros, Harry Stojka, Hubert von Goisern, Josef Hader, Alfred Dorfer, Roland Düringer and many more. She is also an actress in film and television.
