Popis - AUTUMN IN JULY:
Jeremy 'Doc' Hodges is a singer/songwriter from Tennessee. He plays guitar and harmonica in the old folk style, while delivering modern lyrics that describe the conflicting conditions of the human spirit. His musical influences range from Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash to Robert Johnson and Jimmie Rodgers, including absorbed scraps from folk, blues, country, rock, and rap. Doc's highly anticipated debut solo album, 'Autumn in July', reflects his amazing talent as a songwriter. The album's 14 tracks, including 10 originals, expose the soul in great detail and examine the frailty of the heart and the strength of the soul. With recordings of hit songs from his live performances, 'Highway of Life', 'Nebraska River', and 'Autumn in July' coupled with covers of 'Captain of a Shipwreck' 'Tell Ol' Bill', and 'The Cold Hard Facts of Life', the album boasts Doc's best current work. Add to it, the sensational cover of the traditional classic 'God's Gonna Cut You Down', Doc reminds us of the power of the late Johnny Cash's ability to cut to the quick with straight phrasing and an alternating bass line. Adam Leech of the Colorado Springs, CO Independent Newspaper had this to say about Doc's performance of the Bob Dylan song, 'Tell Ol' Bill': '...there are a couple of real knockout punches, most specifically Jeremy Hodges' haunting rendition of 'Tell Ol' Bill.' Not haunting in tone, mind you, but haunting in the sense that Hodges, an artist I had not previously heard, has the reincarnated vocal chords of a long-lived Johnny Cash. I swear to God ... with a capital 'G'! I almost fell out of my chair, the likeness is so absolutely unbelievable.' Doc was also featured on the highly-acclaimed 'Positively Pikes Peak - The Pikes Peak Region Sings Bob Dylan' where he performed the stunning version of 'Tell Ol' Bill'. The album opened to great reviews and is now available on Amazon.com, Cdbaby and iTunes. All proceeds go to the benefit of COPPeR, the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region.
