Popis - COST OF SILENCE:
A few press articles that Anyone's Guess has received in regards to their latest release: Connections Magazine - August 2010 'We're a little different. I would describe our music as lyrical alternative,' said singer/songwriter Sanja Jovanovic of Anyone's Guess, 'but there's no such genre. We're inspired by sounds, not necessarily music. Sometimes I hear the vacuum cleaner and I get the best melody out of it, but I guess the vacuum cleaner deion doesn't sell concert tickets. We've been described as the musical love child of Alanis Morissette and 30 Seconds to Mars, so let's go with that.' With there current line-up consisting of Jovanovic, Clint Chambers (lead guitar), Jack Demetree (drums), and Benjamin Hernandez (bass), Anyone's Guess initially started as a living room jam project. It wasn't supposed to go anywhere, but there was something about the work chemistry between Chambers and Jovanovic that took things to the next level. 'I could not ask for a better work partner,' said Jovanovic. 'Of course, we both share a lot of passion for music and the business in general, so from time to time there are bridges to be crossed, but we always manage to find a successful compromise and launch it into action. We don't spend much time talking the talk, we're walkers.' The past 12 months have really been a big psychological test for the band. They had to part with two band members, cancel their tour and make some really difficult personal decisions. But here they are today, stronger than ever. 'Since we're incapable of writing anything happy, there was really a massive amount of f uel added to our creative fires,' explained Jovanovic. ' The single, 'Finality,' from our new CD, Cost of Silence, is a four-minute summary of the crap we went through and our new outlook on life. It's about being able to end those things that are dragging you down. We realized that the only person standing between us and success were ourselves. The 'Finality' video is being released in August, and we are all set for our Break the Silence 2010 tour this fall.' Regarding the band's name, Anyone's Guess stands for something uncertain, of questionable nature. The name initially fit the members' attitudes really well, because they had no idea here they were headed. It still describes them, but in a different light. 'Things are really falling into place,' said Jovanovic. 'I don't know if it's just the fact that we've reached that maturity level in business management and did our homework right, or what. But things are going so well that we're sort of waiting for something to go wrong.' Anyone's Guess will hold their CD release party at The Haven on August 21st. The band plans to take the production from that release show on tour with them. Should be something people will remember and talk about for a while. Local musicians ready to take over By Gretha McCandele Published: June 2010 Local band Anyone’s Guess could best be described as “the musical love child of Alanis Morissette and 30 Seconds to Mars.” That was a recent deion given in a past review band member Clint Chambers said.Their sound is the combination of raw and deive lyrics, strong vocals, powerful guitar and bass riffs, and timely drum sounds. Senior psychology major Jack Demetree joined the band in October 2009 and has a more personal deion of Anyone’s Guess. “A source of friendship and a means of expressing myself,” he said. Demetree, who has been drumming for 11 years, joined the band after answering its ad for a drummer and finding that he liked the band’s sound and got along with its members. Demetree is graduating this fall and hopes to make his living by being a drummer in Anyone’s Guess, but he is also thinking about going to law school. He understands the struggles of juggling school and playing in a band and offered some advice to those who may find themselves in the same position. “Stay organized,” Demetree said. “School should be a priority, but if you can handle both of them, everything else will be fine.” The members of Anyone’s Guess have changed since its creation in 2006. Its current members are Chambers on guitar, Sanja Jovanovich on vocals and guitar, Benji Hernandez on bass and Demetree on drums. The band released its first album, Point: Counterpoint in 2008, which was well-received overseas and was played by college radio stations. Its new EP, The Cost of Silence, will be released in September. It contains five songs that will show the band’s concept album meant to encourage people to openly express themselves. The first single, “Finality,” will be out later this month. “It’s OK to be different,” Chambers said of the album’s concept. “You don’t need to conform. You have the right to form your opinions.” In addition to preparing for the release of the album, the band has a show July 10 at The Dungeon, where they will shoot a video for the new EP. They also plan on hitting the road to promote the album. With their newfound success, Anyone’s Guess not only focuses on creating their own music, but also on giving local performing acts a start in the music business. The band created “Orlando’s Next Big Thing” last year to showcase local acts and give them an opportunity to succeed. It consists of 24 acts competing against eachother in order to win prizes such as a custom-built guitar, promotional interviews and custom merchandise. ONBT began in May and will continue throughout June at The Haven in Winter Park. The final winner will be announced July 24. Though their line-up has changed throughout the years, the band’s desire to create music is unyielding. “We take the band very seriously,” Chambers said. “We want to be doing this for a living.”
