Popis - MAINLINE BUMP 'N' GRIND REVUE:
The mid-sixties music scene in Toronto was incredible. Great live music & bands that were ahead of their time in terms of musical styles, use of a variety of instruments other than bass guitar & drums, and strong songwriting. The problem was that Canadian record companies had little desire to record any of these bands. Bands often changed personnel in the hopes of finding that one musician that would lead to a recording contract. Case in point: Mainline a.k.a. McKenna Mendelson Mainline: a blues based band that had more of a rock edge, famed for their live shows. Having played in famed Toronto acts Luke & The Apostles and then, briefly, the Ugly Duckings, guitarist Mike McKenna took out an ad in he summer of 1968 asking other like-minded individuals to form a blues band. Joe Mendelson answered the ad, and this potent combination provided the basis of Mendelson Mainline; former Paupers' bassist Denny Gerrard was the next to join. Together, they worked the same English club circuit as up and coming bands like Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin. In July of 1969 a single day recording session yielded the first Liberty Records album Stink. By 1971, the re-christened Mainline was signed to GRT Records. The band's stage antics became raunchier, defying the staid Canadian R & B clubs of the Toronto bar circuit. The result of Mainline's new found infamy was released as The Mainline Bump 'n' Grind Revue: Live At The Victory Theatre in 1972."
