Popis - THE HEARTH EP, VOL. 1:
Charles Rocha was born with music in his blood. The first song he learned to play was “Come As You Are” on his mother's guitar at age 10. At 16 and in a Pennsylvania Correctional Center, Charles made a promise to play music, form a band and be on the road within a year. His caseworker dropped him off at the Warped Tour in Pittsburgh in 2001. He then dropped out of high school and joined The Berlin Project, playing Warped Tour in 2002 and spending the next two years on the road. After leaving The Berlin Project, Charles received a phone call from friend Ben Harper, president of Takeover Records and lead guitarist for Yellowcard. Charles drove to California to play electric guitar in Craig's Brother per Ben's request. In 2005, Charles moved back to Pittsburgh to pursue a higher education. In 2009 he lost his mother to cancer, formed Bear Cub with singer/songwriter Jesse Hall, and helped produce their first three albums with Jesse’s father, Buddy Hall. Bear Cub moved to Nashville in 2010 where Charles spent his first month in music city sleeping on soundproof. As his relationship with Jesse and Bear Cub began to strain in 2011, Charles moved to Florida to work for his grandfather. That year, friend and music mentor John Garrighan died, unleashing a flood of creativity. Most of 2012 was spent building a solid repertoire of songs with Brad Evanovich, co-founder of The Berlin Project, and best friend of John Garrighan, who happened to be living in West Palm Beach, FL. Together they built a working relationship that has evolved into That Summer and 'The Hearth EP'. “The Hearth EP” was mixed and completed by Roger Lima of Less Than Jake at Moathouse Recording Studio in Gainesville, FL. The Hearth EP Vol. 1 is now available for pre-order with a variety of packages at www.thatsummersong.com Charles credits his mother Sally Naylor with his love of music, his persistence and his belief in a more beautifully played world.
