Popis - SOUTH OF THE PARISH LINE:
'Radha Botofasina at once recalls the ancestors of the singing spirit of Bessie Smith and all the jazz and gospel greats who have laid the groundwork for negro spirituals in American Music. Her renditions of such classics as 'Come Here Lord','Motherless Child' and 'Trouble of the World,' give claim to the painful beauty in these songs. But Botofasina puts her own stamp on the 14-track collection. While you can easily hear the texture and richness of her voice, there's also perhaps a subconscious funk-inspired lilt when she sings 'Trouble of the World.' This all evokes Ms.Botofasina's courage as a performer, not to rewrite these standards of ancestry andstruggle, but to usher them into a new millennium.' _–Camilo Smith John Lehman is one of Los Angeles best kept secrets.
